Delia Ciccarelli was born on the 22nd of May 1975 in the countryside of S.Pelino in the region of Abbruzzo, Italy. At 3 years of age she painted the walls of her home. Far from being angry, her mother was proud of Delia's very first Fresco! Delia's schools were predominantly focused on the sciences. However she didn't deviate from her passions -drawing and art. Instead she concentrated on developing her own unique style. Delia likes to observe human facial expressions and the body movement. This results in her art resembling a still from a film, an action captured and framed. She loves animals, particularly horses and birds. Her favourite forms of exercise are swimming and mountain walking. Her greatest love, after art, is travelling, discovering new places and cultures for herself. A great experience she had was a visit to Mykines, one of the Faroe islands, only reachable by helicopter or boat. On Mykines she studied and drew the movements of birds and the motion of the ocean. Delia's work with chalk allows her to express a dreamlike representation of the surrounding world. She begins with a pencil sketch to capture the fine details of movement and then elaborates on the sketch with her deft use of chalk.
